Erica and Jason's Wedding

The Story...

How We Met...

Jason and I met my sophomore year at Mississippi State and his first year as a transfer student there. I believe the first time we met was at the Wesley Foundation when I made Jason a name tag. He said he was rushing BYX, which was a fraternity where I knew some of guys so I asked his major. He replied, "Architect." If some of you don't know, I started as an architecture major freshman year and quickly changed so I believe I replied to Jason, saying, "Are you sure you are ready for 'architorture'?" Basically all year, even after Jason joined me in making name tags, the only thing we talked about was architecture except for a few brief moments.

How We Started Dating...

Jason and I continued to make name tags together and had mutual friends throughout college. We both enjoyed each other's friendship, and my senior year (his fourth year in Architecture school) we took a class together -- Old Testament. Basically studying together coupled with seeing each other now Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in class had us seeing something new in each other. As our friendship took a turn, Jason asked me to attend his fraternity formal with him; then before the fraternity formal, we had a lunch date. From that weekend on, I knew and I think he did too that we were fated to date. After some other dates (at Old Venice and Strombolis) then Jason's conversation with Hugh Griffith (our campus minister), we started dating.

How We Knew...

For Jason, he knew sooner than I. I surprised him after he returned from Europe last summer. He said as soon as he saw my face when he got off the plane that closed the deal from him. For me, I honestly did not take that much longer. Before I started graduate school, I just knew. For both of us, the sensation of knowing was something that we both felt had come from God. Growing up people had told me that went you meet your husband you'll just know, and as ambiguous as it sounds this was true for us. Thankfully, both of our realizations happened as similar time, and now you all know how it turns out -- we get hitched!
